This is Patrick, a pit bull that authorities say survived being thrown down a 19-story garbage chute by his owner, Kisha Curtis. Animal rights activists want Curtis to face a stiffer sentence if convicted, and are passing around an online petition to get New Jersey to adopt stricter animal abuse sentences. Patrick’s Facebook page is now garnering attention from around the world. It’s an excellent idea, because people who treat animals so horribly often move on to committing similar acts on their human counterparts.
