Our Lager, Who Art In Heaven.

A guy in Iowa consumed only beer and water for 46 days of Lent , and he says doing it brought him closer to God. J. Wilson, a home-brewer and Christian, kept a keg of beer at work and one at home and sipped on cups throughout the day. He says he felt tipsy maybe three times over the course of his fast. This beer-only diet was done by Bavarian Monks hundreds of years ago, but seems more of a challenge in a modern, non-cloistered world. Wilson managed to finish, though, and lost 25 pounds during the diet (which he might have gained right back after his first food post-Lent—a bacon smoothie.) While drinking beer to gain spirituality might sound odd—or a big fat lie from somebody who likes beer too much—Wilson said he learned self-control, willpower, and what he truly needs to survive.
