Docked a star for profanity! This was Amazon as elementary school: no swearing allowed, gold stars for good behavior. It was also a nice illustration of the American hypersensitivity to swearing.
That’s Kathryn Schulz in New York Magazine using the success of the new book “Go The F—k To Sleep” to defend the f-bomb against puritanical handwringers who dismiss any and all use of profanity as unnecessary and amateurish. And I’m on Schulz’s side. People who outright dismiss any work of art using profanity are basically doing so to get their rocks off on their own illusion of superiority.
