The Republican National Committee released a set of mock birthday cards in honor of President Barack Obama’s 49th birthday. The cards are purportedly from the president’s friends, including everyone’s favorite impeached governor Rod Blagojevich.
A new Biblical Obama slogan making the rounds on conservative T-shirts and bumper stickers is being interpreted as calling for the president’s death.
The slogan “Pray for Obama: Psalm 109:8” seems innocent enough, but the actual verse reads: “Let his days be few; and let another take his office.”
The psalm goes on to say: “May his children be orphans, and his wife a widow.” Read the entire psalm here.
In Defense of Obama's Nobel Peace Prize
[W]hen you consider the fact that Obama was nominated before he had even done anything as president, you certainly could see it as an extension of Europe’s middle finger to his predecessor. But you could also see it as an award not for his concrete policy successes, but for his personal achievement to be elected the first African-American president, the child of an immigrant and a single mother, with a Muslim name, an Asian step-father and half-sister, a wife who descended from slaves. And/or it could be for his achievement to be elected president on an international platform that the Nobel Committee considers a refreshing humanitarian turn for the world’s great hyper-power. Or for giving his moving speech on race in Philadelphia, for addressing 200,000 Berliners, his conciliatory speeches at the last two Democratic conventions, or his pragmatic address to a Chicago anti-war rally in 2002.(via The Gaggle)
