Floating through Georgetown’s Past: Monday was not the first time the Potomac overran its banks in dramatic fashion (although watching waterlogged Jaguars getting fished out of a parking garage sure was entertaining.)  In a photograph from the collection of the Library of Congress, two boaters float through another Georgetown flood, sometime between 1909 and 1923. -TP [the20washington] (Photo: Library of Congress)

Stinkbug, Scourge of Gardens and Offices Alike. The brown marmorated stink bug has been sweeping south and west, leaving rotten tomatoes and chewed-through vineyards in their wake.  But the reign of terror doesn’t stop at the door step - these guys will crawl on your desk, your phone charger, fly into your co-workers hair - a quarter-inch of anarchy.  But don’t even think of squishing one - that’s the way to release the stink. -TP [the20washington] (Photo - Persinko)
